Sunrise Day Camp—soon to celebrate its sixth season with an annual attendance that has quadrupled since its opening season—is the first and only dedicated day camp in the United States for children with cancer and their siblings. It is a very special place where children can come, free of charge, and enjoy days filled with fun, friendship and adventure, returning to the comfort and safety of their own homes each night while continuing with their medical treatments.
Beyond the camping season, Sunrise fun continues through camp-like programs and hospital services. Sunrise Sundays and Fundays offer children exciting activities and events on a monthly basis and during school holidays. Sunrise on Wheels is an innovative program that provides entertainment to children awaiting treatment in pediatric oncology outpatient facilities of participating hospitals. Each week, volunteers wheel a rainbow trunk bursting with toys, games, and activities right into the waiting rooms at Cohen Children’s Medical Center, Stonybrook University Hospital, Mount Sinai Hospital, and Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center.
Sunrise and its miraculous programs are expanding and touching the hearts of hundreds of children whose lives have been impacted by cancer—because of the generosity of people like you. Imagine the joy and healing power that these programs offer. They make the biggest difference in the children’s lives…and you can, too!
