Our father, Jacob Walker, ע"ה loved Torah with a passion

and passed that love on to his daughters.
It is especially fitting that this award through EMUNAH

go to young women who want to pursue further Torah study. 

He always made us feel that pursuing

and learning Torah was of vital importance

to his daughters as Jewish Women.

Our sister, Marilyn David, ע"ה, took this lesson as her life's work. 

Whether learning with her daughters at home, teaching Torah

to new Russian immigrants through her Atid Academy

or passing on Torah values in her work at Ivdu

to Jewish special needs young adults.
We are proud to pass this mesorah

on to our children and grandchildren.
May the Torah learning enabled through this fund be an Aliyah for their neshamos.

Upon accepting the Torah Scholarship Tribute on behalf of

our beloved Uncle Jack Walker A"H, and cousin Marilyn Walker David A"H.

 

It is truly a most fitting tribute for both of them. They dedicated and devoted their lives to, and excelled in, helping K'lal Yisroel. Especially in the area

of Jewish education, and special needs children, as well as a myriad

of other worthy community endeavors. Their unceasing commitment

to countless causes of Torah, chinuch, and chesed continues to be

an inspiration to all of us.

 

May the Ribono Shel Olam grant our Aunt Anita good health, resources

and strength to enjoy and shep nachas from her beautiful family,

and to inspire them to continue to emulate the high ideals

which infused the lives of their grandfather and mother.

28 years ago, at the age of 13, I traveled to then communist Czechoslovakia

and to Israel, with my incredible grandparents, Anita and Jack Walker.

We were on an organized tour with EMUNAH Women. That special trip made me fall in love with Israel and with its people.

This special couple, by just living their beliefs, taught so much good by example to so many people. To our family, to friends and community. They taught us about happiness, love, devotion, kindness, compassion, selflessness, charity

and Torah wisdom.

This scholarship is yet another example of our Bubby's smart heart. We could think of no better way to honor the life and legacy of our grandfather Dr Jack Walker, z"l and Aunt Marilyn David z"l, who embodied and taught these same Torah values. Their lifetime involvement with EMUNAH speaks volumes about the organization and the great work it does.

A woman whose dedication to her family is only matched by her dedication to Klal Yisrael.

Her insight, advice and guidance has carried us through both good times and hard times. Our Bubbi built a life with our beloved Ati setting an example for future generations to follow. Their love for one another and for Yiddishkeit is carried over in their children, grandchildren

and great grandchildren.

 

The scholarship which has been established in memory of Ati, Dr. Jack Walker A"H and our unforgettable mother/grandmother Marilyn David A"H , will enable many women

to study Torah and live lives going b'derech Hashem, just as they did.

 

We are sure that Ati and Savti are smiling and that this dedication

will be a zchus for Bubbi l'orech yamim v'shanim.

As life long members, Anita and Jack were instrumental in establishing Emunah, then Hapoel Hamizrachi, as a vital and leading institution in Israel and world-wide, helping all citizens of Israel, from infancy through senior age in all aspects of their lives. Their dedication and tireless efforts helped in the establishment and success of increasing number of schools and homes to educate, shelter and protect all children in need. Marilyn, A"H, their daughter, followed in the footsteps of her parents. Marilyn was loved and admired for her Torah Values, caring and kindness to others. She was a true Bas Yisroel.
