The other is - Johanna Herskowitz, -the national EMUNAH chairman.

 Michelle spends most of her time and energy looking for opportunities to give back.

She lives to do chessed. She has always been devoted to Bikor Cholim. She is the first

to open her home  for any charitable purpose. And of course she is a loyal emissary

for EMUNAH. She deserves to be honored many times over! I am honored to know her

and glad to pay tribute to her on this occasion.

Johanna has been giving her all to EMUNAH from the day we recruited her to run

the Upper West Side Chapter. She stayed involved year after year. EMUNAH is blessed

to have her at the helm now.

Michelle's time is divided among so many Jewish communal causes and once she takes on a role she treats it like a lifetime responsibility. With energy and flair Michelle chairs, hosts, and gives of herself fully to everything she does. In her work on behalf of EMUNAH, Michelle demonstrates her lifelong embodiment of  Ahavat Am Yisrael and Ahavat Eretz Yisrael. We wish Michelle the ability to continue all her wonderful efforts  and for Hashem to shower her and Eli and their beautiful family with an abundance of Bracha always.  

Our friendship with Esther and Paul Lerer goes back generations. Their Chesed is legendary and we gladly join in paying tribute to them on this most deserved honor.

We are honored to pay tribute to Melanie Oelbuam, a true lady, a lady of EMUNAH.

Melanie Oelbaum is Emunah in countless ways. Melanie's Emunah in HaShem

was the driving force for her survival out of the darkness and horrors of the Shoah.

Emunah guided and sustained Melanie, coming to America alone, after losing her family. Emunah, plus her indomitable strength, helped Melanie to rebuild her life. She married,

and together with Maurice, built a beautiful family, steeped in Emunah, Torah and Mitzvot.

 

Emunah, is the organization Melanie helped develop into its current national

and international standing, helping hundreds of thousands of children in her beloved Israel,

including its general population. Melanie's compassion, love and desire to give back

for her miraculous survival and blessings is evident in her limitless achievements

on behalf of Emunah.
