Beth Emeth - David Cerny
David has been a member of Congregation Beth Emeth ever since moving into Northern Virginia in 1994. At Beth Emeth, David has been an active member of the Men’s Club as well as the Ritual Committee. He has served on the synagogue board for many years.
He is a regular Torah/Haftarah reader, service leader, Bimah Gabbai and a B’nai Mitzvah tutor. He wrote the Floor and Bimah Gabbai Playbooks that he uses to train Bimah and Floor Gabbaiim. He teaches Torah trope to adults as well as 5th and 6th graders prior to their B’nai Mitzvah. David has been involved for many years as the Men’s Club Shabbat coordinator and helps out at various Men’s Club events, including the Yellow Yom HaShoa Candle program.
David is retired and spends every available minute when he’s not busy with shul activities travelling the world with his wife of 40 years, Sheri.
David is very honored to have been chosen as the 2019 Blue Yarmulke Man of the Year.
