Morah Nini quite simply put, is the quintessential "Morah". If anyone was born to be a teacher and an also an imparter of broader knowledge it is her. Morah Nini's classes are not only about learning לשון העברית and about מדינת ישראל. Her classes encompass more than הסטוריה and the geography and security of Israel, though these messages are surely important and are conveyed beyond the classroom, and even at a protest at the U.N.
Morah Nini's focus on her תלמידים and תלמידות centers about 'Life' itself, and she always conveys her life lessons by example. Imparting the centrality of כבוד ואהבת הבריות and the importance of behaving as a mensch are primary goals for her and represent the principles by which she lives. It is her objective that her students should glean these fundamental life-lessons while in her classroom at Moriah.
According to the Gemara in Sanhedrin19B:אמר רבי שמואל בר נחמני א"ר יונתן: "כל המלמד את בן חברו תורה כאילו ילדו."Rabbi Shmuel bar Nachmani says that Rabbi Yonatan states:"One who teachers another's child Torah, it is as if he gave birth to him."
Morah Nini's thousands of past students over the last 30 plus years can be tallied. Her influence on the other hand, is too broad and far reaching to be computed. It is this that we recognize, celebrate and acknowledge. What bigger compliment can there be than the fact that Morah Nini's past students are now happy and appreciative parents of current students!
Her fair-mindedness and sensitivity are illustrated regularly by the promptness with which she marks and returns tests, much to the students' delight. How do I know this? I see it first hand while sitting at the dining room table ...
To be in Morah Nini's class is to have theזכות of being exposed to a Master Teacher. Her passion and enthusiasm in the class are perhaps only matched by her passion when cheering on the basketball and hockey teams at their games.
I am privileged to call Morah Nini my wife and 'Eshet Chayil'. Knowing her since age 14 in South Africa, soon after her arrival from Medinat Yisrael, I have had this pleasure for many wonderful and exciting years: first as a friend, then fiancée, wife, mother and now B"H 'Savti' too.
May Hashem bless us with many more healthy and happy years together with our family. I am so proud of you, Morah Nini, tonight and always.
