Martin Sinkoff has been a dedicated member of Ansche Chesed since joining (officially) in 2007. Initially drawn to the Torah study class with Rabbi Kalmanofsky on shabbat mornings, Martin has never stood at the sidelines simply as a congregant. He has served as a Board Member, an Executive Committee member, a Marketing Committee member, and a Chevra Kadisha member. He also served on Minyan M'at's Troika, and- aharon, aharon, haviv (saving the best for last)-was the shul's President from 2015 - 2018.

In the Jewish world outside of Ansche Chesed, Martin is an ardent supporter of UJA and a member of its Pride Committee. He has participated on one mission to Israel with the UJA and one mission to Havana, Cuba, in cooperation with the Joint Distribution Committee.

Professionally, Martin is a wine importer, a career inspired by his life-long passion for the French language (with German, Spanish, and now Hebrew). His career started in New York in 1978 working for Morrell and Company, led to France working for Alexis Lichine at Chateau Prieure-Lichine in Bordeaux, to Texas building the wine department of Glazer's Distributors, to his own company Martin Sinkoff Wines where he produced a wine with the cheeky name, "Reserve St. Martin" and marketed Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte including its Kosher cuvée, to a ten-year tenure at the venerable importer Frederick Wildman and Sons.

Martin has been honored by the French Government and named an Officier of Merite Agricole for his work in the wine trade on behalf of French producers.

Martin has lived in New York; Providence, Rhode Island; Caen, Rouen, Bordeaux and Paris, France; Malines, Belgium; Dallas, Texas and Germantown, New York. He is a devoted brother to Richard, Jim, and Nancy (an AC member), and a loving and supportive uncle to Ezra, Miriam, Reuben, Emma, and Noah.

This year in May, Martin, a steadfast supporter of Israel, will embark on his newest adventure: making Aliyah and moving to Tel Aviv!
